It took me a long time to realise the benefits of positive thinking. I had often heard people mention that if you think positive, positive things will happen to you, I used to think they were a bit weird. I now believe they were right and this article explains why.Growing up through the difficult teenage years and into my early twenties, I felt very sorry for myself. I used to think I was the most unluckiest person in the world. I had a bald patch the size of a ten pence piece on my head, a speech impediment(stutter), I was overweight to the point of being fat, and was short for a male(5ft4).

I believed that I received more mickey taking out of me than anyone else, and life was certainly a struggle. To meet members of the opposite sex when you have a lack of confidence and a speech impediment is not easy. To gain work, order drinks, socialise in general, these were all difficult for me. Everyone else seemingly breezed and eased there way through life.

One day I was at work and a colleague of mine who was about thirty years older than me, commented that I was a very depressive person. I disagreed with him and was quite shocked, I believed that most people worried and stressed about things. He went on by stating that I was always negative about most things in life, always moaning about this or that and very rarely smiled. He went on to say that he had used to be like me, always depressed, moody and stressed until he was given some advice when he was aged thirty. He then proceeded to give me the same advice.

THE ADVICE:

When you feel down, depressed and sorry for yourself, watch the news and read the newspapers and you will see that there are many people worse off than you, and that you are actually one of the lucky ones.

I thought about this and started to follow what he had said. I now realise how stupid I had been. To be born and live in the UK, I am one of the lucky ones.

Before the age of twenty-two I used to think I was one of the most unluckiest people in the world. My life seemed to be such a struggle compared to other people who seemingly breezed through life. I was caught up in a web of negativity and needed someone or something to help me to escape. Then I met a man who was around fifty while working on a project at work. We were having a chat one day when he stated that I was a depressive person who rarely smiled. What he said was quite upsetting and disturbing, however would have a profound effect on my future.

In a shocked state I denied the accusation but be continued, yes you are, you very rarely smile, you are negative about most issues and you always seem to be carrying the world on your shoulders.

This man was aged around fifty three and continued, I used to be like you and then I was given some advice, of which I am now going to relay to you. When you feel down, depressed or sorry for yourself, read the newspapers or watch the news on the television. You may then realise that you are in fact one of the lucky ones.

I listened and thought about what he had said. I had never been a big reader or watcher of the news, but decided to start. The advice was totally correct, the news from around the world and even my own country was quite shocking. I realised that the worries I had were actually quite trivial and that I needed to cherish everyday and start to look on the bright side of life.

Win it comes to poker, players are always saying how lucky someone is, especially if they are being outplayed or beaten by that other player. What they do not realize is all of the bad luck superstitions that there are in poker.

For a game where most players rarely consider luck, there are lots of superstitions in poker. When you mention that someone was lucky in that poker tournament they won, be careful of how you say it. For instance, if you mention that you were unlucky, your luck may never change.Ok, that may sound a bit ubsurd, but poker is a game loaded with superstitions. Did you know that if you are playing a game with two seperate decks and you are asked to pick the deck, you should always pick the deck of cards that is furthest from you? Or, how about If you get a run of bad cards, you must sit on a hankerchief to break your bad luck? It’s actually considered good luck to blow through a deck of cards while they are being shuffled.

Some other fascinating poker superstitions are:

You can change the run of cards by walking around your chair three times.

The luckiest seat at the poker table faces the door.

The unluckiest seat has it’s back to a fireplace.

When changing seats, you should always do so clockwise.

The unluckiest poker card is the four of clubs.

It’s very unlucky to sit with your legs crossed at the poker table.

Friday is a bad day for playing cards.

The 13th is also a bad day, regardless of what day of the week it is.

For being such a game full of skill, many people still hold on to the old superstitions.

Are you superstitious? How do you react on Friday the 13th?

How are you reacting today? Today is Friday the 13th. You would think that this would be just a normal day in our lives, but it becomes something else. We flash back into childhood and remember someone telling us things like, “watch for that black cat crossing the street,” “don’t break a mirror today,” or “don’t step on the cracks on the sidewalk you will break your mother’s back.” The word is long and is difficult to pronounce. It is called Paraskevidekatriaphobia. No matter if you can pronounce it or not, it still means the same thing, “The fear of Friday the 13th.” So for some reason or another we begin our day with greater care. I have known some people, who did not go in to work, while another canceled a job interview, feeling the day would result badly.

Most people cannot offer an explanation to their fear or superstitions, but the belief is widespread in today’s world. I often question my own superstitions, and I have them, but resolve to blame it on what was told to me in childhood. Today I canceled my hair appointment. I offered a lame excuse to the receptionist and rescheduled. I could not believe that I actually did that, but I did not want to chance my hair coloring to turn out orange, since my regular beautician was out sick that day. I thought of that black cat again. I have seen them many times crossing a street in front of my car, pausing for a small second, then arrogantly continuing their walk. When that happens, I find myself worrying about it all day at work. And sure enough it happens.

My boss approaches me and asks if I would stay overtime to finish a project. “Of course”, I said, fuming at that black cat, who crossed my path. This strange behavior continues, when I attended a bingo game at a church function that day.

I sat next to this lady, who was so focused on the game, she never acknowledged I was sitting next to her. From the corner of my eye I saw this woman had 12 cards on the table and lined up, in a semi-circle, were plastic figurines, a rabbit’s foot, six dice stacked on top of one another, pictures of her kids, and a pack of cigarettes. After many hours of not winning a single game, the woman swipes all her things off the table, and with the cigarette in her mouth, exclaims, “I hate Friday the 13th.” “I don’t know why I even came to play today.”

”I should have listened to my mother this morning.” We all joke about Friday the 13th, but are still compelled to fear it. Hearing stories behind these unluckiest of days from people who have experienced things happening to them, does not help alleviate our own fears. So the fear of Friday the 13th continues for most of us. After leaving the bingo hall, I saw the cracks in the parking lot pavement.

I found myself avoiding those cracks when I looked down and spotted a $1 bill. As I stuffed the $1 in my pocket, I thought, “I wasn’t such an unlucky day after all!” However, I continued to keep a watchful eye for that black cat on the road!” “You never know,” I thought, having several more blocks to drive, Friday the 13th isn’t over yet.
We explore the ten most unlucky musicians. If the cosmos had been a bit more in their favour who knows where they would be now?

We explore the Ten Most unlucky musicians, if the cosmos had been a bit more in their favour who knows where they would be now?10. Dave Mustaine, first guitarist for Metallica. He left to form his own metal band, Megadeth. Perhaps not as much money in his pocket but at least he was his own man.9. Tracii Guns, guitarist for Guns n’ Roses. After not showing up for a rehearsal Tracii was replaced by Slash. Tracii formed another band, L.A. Guns, who have had some success but clearly nothing like G n R.8. Chuck Mosley, and Faith No More, Chuck Mosley, who left the band because of ‘creative differences’ was replaced by Mike Patton. Chuck went on to front Bad Brains, whilst Faith No More flourished.

7. The Backstreet Boys, Burk Parsons quit to become a minister, one wonders if he ever looked back and thought – Oh Lord why have you forsaken me’

6. Dave Evans, the original singer of AC/DC – Bon Scott replaced Dave Evans just before the band became huge. Dave went on to front the band as The Hot Cockerels and we all know how well they have done.

5. Seventy three drummers failed to make it with Nirvana. Nirvana had 73 different drummers, before Dave Grohl joined in 1990. Dave joined just as the band took off, pretty good career move you could say.

4. Ian Stewart, founding member of The Rolling Stones. Ian and Brian Jones co-founded the band. But somehow Ian just wasn’t Rock n Roll enough and he was eased out of the band, managing them for a while and playing a bit of keyboards.

3. Glen Matlock, original bassist of The Sex Pistols – Was Glen kicked out because he liked The Beatles too much, who really knows? What we do know is that he is one of the great bassists and still gigs brilliantly today.

2. Syd Barrett and Pink Floyd – However successful they were to later become these words are always seemingly linked. Syd the creative genius of early Pink Floyd, quickly became addicted to drugs and after bad LSD trips could no longer function adequately and became a total recluse and left the Band. A bizarre twist, many years later when they were recording the tribute to Syd you Shine On You Crazy Diamond, he apparently walked into the studio!

1. Pete Best, the original drummer of the Beatles Ditched by the Beatles just before real success, reputedly he was too good looking for the other members of the band but we have heard rumours about a liaison between Lennon and Bests mother which might have had something to do with it. Anyway definitely the unluckiest drummer in the World.

Just what is luck? How would you define luck? Most of the time for me luck is work. We often say that lottery winners have luck. If we escape from a tragic accident without any harm we are called lucky. Is there really such a thing as luck? We also say that if something happen that is bad then you got its bad luck.I have become faithful over the small things so that I can one day rule over many things. So each time I see a penny on the ground I pick it up of course with the head facing up. I was lucky to find it there. It has been said that a long trek starts with one step; therefore I believe I can make my first million with every penny I find. Thus I pick up all pennies that I find its all “luck” to me.

We use the word luck in many phrases jokes and anecdotes. A car salesman would say that “today is your lucky day!” If you travel you may want to visit Luck Wisconsin or visit Las Vegas to try your luck.

Luck is a phenomenon that we can not see or hear. Luck can not be controlled or pulled out a wallet or purse. Luck is an uncertain realization that we really had nothing to do with our fortune or misfortune. So why does good things happen to bad people and bad thing happen to good people? Can this be luck or fate at work in our lives.

When the rain falls it falls on everyone not just a select few. Therefore storms will come to every life.

We attribute luck to animals, by carrying around a lucky rabbit’s foot. Now how luck was the rabbit if i might ask? We have a lucky shirt or coin in our pockets. If you find a four leaf clover you could have good luck. We toss coins into wishing wells and make wishes while blowing out birthday candles. We throw rice at weddings so that the newlyweds will have a good marriage. We eat black eyed peas and cabbage greens for luck in the New Year. Let me throw a pinch of salt over my shoulder for luck of course. In anticipation of thing we some times cross our fingers for good luck. Look to the sky a shooting star will bring you good luck.

On the other hand we see bad luck in a different light. The black cat that crosses your path while driving home is one bad omen. If you pick a three leaf clover you can have bad luck as well. Dont forget to knock on wood for your good luck.

Now here is the story: Without divine intervention there would be nothing to sustain us in good or bad (luck) times. History is God working in the events and lives of men. We often create the good and bad things in our lives. As adults we come to learn that there consequence for all of our actions.

They consider your mind their territory. In fact, they’ll use every scare tactic possible to keep you from re-taking control of your mind from them. When I was a kid, my parents went to a small cult-like church that held very narrow teachings. It was wrong to dance. Wrong to go to movies. Wrong to drink soft drinks… and beer and whiskey were mortal sins. Any music other than church music was considered “worldly,” and somehow suspect.

Any kind of revealing clothing — the kind that normal people would wear to a party, or on a hot summer day, were condemned.

Oh yes, and hypnosis was “of the devil.”

If you find that you’re leery of getting involved with hypnosis, then you may be a victim of scare teachings from long ago.

When I was a kid, I remember preachers claiming that hypnosis was evil and that we should never go near it. Years later, I decided that this was ignorant hogwash and I went out of my way to learn everything I could about it.

Eventually, I realized that the only people who object to your controlling your own mind through hypnosis are people who would rather control your mind for you. And the tools they use? Powerful suggestion, vivid imagery, emotionally loaded stories. In a word, hypnosis.

The very people who are objecting the loudest to you having control over your own mind are the same people who are trying to exert control over your thoughts through suggestion.

So if you’ve been reluctant to take up some of the most effective tools for improving your life, take heart. I had to walk the same scary road to freedom. Has it been worth it? A thousand times yes

Personally I don’t think I’m up for the routine money-loss that’s involved. I like to know that I’m getting something when I fork out the bucks. Surely you can understand that. But, at the same time, I do see the appeal of gambling. Folks enjoy the excitement that comes with tossing the dice. There’s a certain amount of mystery and challenge involved. Well, if you are the unluckiest player that enjoys a good game of poker of blackjack, then you must already know about online casinos.

Remember the old days when you had to take a road trip all the way to Las Vegas or Atlantic City if you wanted to gamble a bit? Not that this era has passed. You can certainly still do this. In fact, I recommend it on occasion. It can be an utter blast if you’re with the right people.

However, you don’t have to put the miles on your car in order to play craps or the slot machines. Because now you have access to 24 hour online casinos. You can get your gamble on and do so from your living room. All you need is a personal computer with Internet access. Well, and maybe a few bucks. Most of these online casinos take credit cards. Naturally you can see why.

It’s never prudent to take it too far. So many people step way out of their league when it comes to gambling. For some reason they start betting with money they really don’t have. So here’s the trick; if you don’t have the cash, then don’t play like you do. A close friend of mine made this mistake time and time again. And it was with online casinos. He maxed-out four credit cards before he came to his senses. Now he’s struggling to pay it all back. And what does he have to show for it? Nothing! Whatever you do, don’t take this route.

Gambling should be a form of entertainment. Do it for fun and set a limit to how much you want to lose. This is simple. Put aside 500 or 1000 dollars before you begin. Then only use the cash you’ve set aside. Hey, this is the way my father taught me and it has always worked well for him. You have to keep a level head when gambling and don’t become the most unluckiest gambler.
